María del Mar Rosario is a filmmaker from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, navigating both narrative and nonfiction. As a writer, director, and producer, she aims to tell stories that trigger a reflection on notions of the Caribbean under a decolonial lens, while exploring the perspective of the body.

Her work has screened at Palms Springs Short Fest, HotDocs, IDFA, SFFILM, Tribeca Film Festival, Metrograph, and the French Cinematheque. With a BA in Creative Nonfiction and Film Studies from Columbia University, she later completed her postgraduate studies in Documentary Directing at the School of Film and Television in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba (EICTV). Maria del Mar was recently awarded the LALIFF/NETFLIX Inclusion Fellowship to write and direct the narrative short, Punta Salinas, which won best short at the Puerto Rico Film Festival in 2023. She is a Firelight Media/PBS Homegrown fellow 2024.
