María Del Mar Rosario is a filmmaker from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, navigating both narrative and nonfiction.
Her stories aim to trigger a reflection on notions of the Caribbean under a decolonial lens, while exploring the perspective of the body.
Her work has screened at Muestra Joven ICAIC, Tribeca, SFFILM, New Orleans, HotDocs, IDFA, Metrograph NYC, and the Cinémathèque Française.
Maria del Mar was recently awarded the LALIFF/NETFLIX Inclusion Fellowship to write and direct the narrative short, Punta Salinas; as well as the PBS/Firelight Media Homegrown Fellowship 2024 for a short doc titled Escambrón, Playa.
